Almost all of them. In the famous set of 32,000 Microsoft deals, every one except deal #11982 has been proven solvable, so with visible cards and four free cells the vast majority of positions can be beaten with the right sequence.

Each of the four cells holds a single card of any rank or suit as temporary storage, letting you move a blocking card aside; you can bring it back to the tableau or send it to a foundation later.

You may only shift as many cards as you can stage using your open cells and empty columns — the limit is (free cells + 1) times two to the power of the number of empty columns. Free up cells or a column to move bigger groups.
